It is seldom in the realm of the Indian classical music that an individual acquires such virtuosity and mastery over more than one instrument. Ustad Zamir Ahmed Khan is one such example, born in a traditional family of great musicians, famous for generations. Influenced by the surroundings and atmosphere he started to listen, learn and play with some of the greatest musicians since the age of 4, son of great musician Ustad Munir Khan.
He has nurtured Indian Classical music in the right perspective. After intensive training in Tabla and vocal music he started learning Sitar in 1962 under the masterly guidance of Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra and his father.
His first real exposure to fame started in 1967 when he visited Afghanistan as a member of ICCr. After that he began his journey of performances through far and wide places in and outside India. he visited Holland in 1972 with Ustad Vilayat Khan, the sitar maestro on a extreme performance tour and so attracted to this country that the following year he came once again with his father Ustad Munir Khan, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and Pt. Nikhil Bannerjee, and eventually chose to live in Holland permanently.Whereas he became our "stichting"and Academy founder.
